Symbolize Your Endless Love through a Unity Wedding Ceremony
The wedding is a momentous celebration both for the bride and the groom, and incorporating a unity
ceremony will make it even more memorable. You can illustrate and symbolize the day's importance by having the different ceremonies. If you are in search for either a modern or traditional ceremony, there are
various ways to celebrate it.
Irish Handfasting Ceremony
This is where "tying the knot" was derived from. In this Celtic tradition, the bride and the groom's
wrists are tied by a cord or ribbon. The bride gently holds the right hand of the groom with
her right hand, while the left hand is holding the groom's left hand. Through the crossing of their wrists, a ribbon is also wound around their
wrists, and with this being done they illustrate an infinity symbol. During the earlier
years, the couples in Ireland would have this ceremony prior to being “handfasted.”
This means the couple spends a year and a day being married wherein they will decide if they should stick together as a coupe or go in their separate ways. Some of the couples nowadays have liked this idea and actually have adopted it. Typically, this ceremony is done in neo-pagan weddings, but can also play a
significant part in any marriage.
Rose Ceremony
Red roses have always been the symbol of love and romance. For the many decades that have gone by, most
people give roses to someone special to affectionately express the words “I love you.” The roses are frequently affiliated with matters of the heart. This is the most romantic ceremony there
is. In a rose ceremony, the couple will exchange red roses
to symbolize their affection for each other. The couple can also
give red roses to their children to illustrate their importance and to make them a special part of the wedding.
Garland Ceremony
This is an Indian ceremony known as "jaimala" or "varmala", and it is very similar with the rose ceremony. The only difference is that couple exchanges garlands or leis. This is to symbolize that their love is lasting and has been blessed by nature.
Sand
Ceremony
This is a well-known Hawaiian ceremony that combines the
sand where each of the couple’s feet has stepped on at the beach. The sand is then contained in a vial to represent their union. This type of ceremony can be done indoors by simply getting a handful of
sand from two separate containers. The couple then mixes
the sand they get into one container. The couple can use colored
sand as well or mix the different colors to make a new color.
The sand in the vial can be kept after the wedding.
Candle Ceremony
This is the most well-known wedding ceremony. It unites the flame of three candles. Unity Candle consists of 2 tapers and 1 center candle. Usually, the couple's mother lights the taper, while the couple lights the center candle with the taper. Some extinguishes the taper to symbolize the couple as one, while
some kept it burning to symbolize two individuals being united.
Whether you choose any of these
ceremonies, your wedding ceremony will sure be a memorable one with lasting love and traditions all rolled into
one.
